Mentoring is important, yet we don‘t speak about it
Last week I did a poll on Twitter, asking the following question:
"How important were mentors in your personal and professional life?"
1/3 of the respondents said they were „crucial“ and 1/3 „somewhat important“
It matches pretty well with what my DevJourney guests mentioned on the show. Yet we don‘t seem to be speaking about it nearly enough. When I ask for advice around me, it's always Tech X, Framework Y or Project Z. Rarely I hear the word "mentor" or even "networking".
- Why is that?
- Did/do you have a mentor?
- How could we change this?
